The Audio and Visual Fund

The Audio and Visual Fund administers funds to promote and disseminate recorded sound and film. The funds are distributed in the best interest of rights holders and as a compensation for the legal reproduction of works within the music, stage and film sectors.

The board of the Audio and Visual Fund - seven members appointed by the Ministry of Culture and the artist and production organisations - is responsible for the final allocation of funds. The board is appointed biannually. Head of the board is Stein Bjelland.

6 expert committees, with 28 members proposed by the artist organisations and appointed by the board, evaluate the applications. 

Arts Council Norway functions as the secretariat for The Audio and Visual Fund. 

You can apply for financial support from the following funding schemes:

  • Project funding
  • Marketing of documentary- and short films
  • Marketing of music releases
  • Resumpton of stage performances
  • Norwegian music in audiovisual productions

Arts Council Norway received 2798 applications to The Audio and Visual Fund in 2015. 550 applications were granted funds.
