PHAROS - Lighthouses across Europe
Riksantikvaren er norsk partner i dette prosjektet som handler om vern og bruk av europeiske steinfyr. Fem land er representert i prosjektet: Hellas, Italia, Kypros, England og Norge. Formålet er blant annet å skape større interesse for fyrstasjonene som kulturminner. Prosjektet ble avsluttet i 2008.
Holistic strategy for the Preservation, Restoration and Integration in the life of the modern societies of Old European Masonry Lighthouses (PHAROS): website, record of historical, structural, legal, functional and environmental background in relation to the lighthouses selected and state of the art report on the Old Masonry Lighthouses (17-19th century); measurements and documentation; laboratory work: development of CD-ROM.
The aim is recognition by lighthouses' managing authorities and the society of the value of the old lighthouses and their significance as common European cultural heritage; the need of their conservation and safeguarding; the importance of good practices - promotion of an holistic approach of the lighthouses restoration and rehabilitation actions; the cooperation in European level for management of common cultural heritage for better results.
