Safeguarding the Heathlands of Europe
Stiftelsen Lyngheisenteret ledet prosjektet HEATHGUARD som hadde som mål å forbedre forvaltningen av Europas lynhgeier.
The project will produce 1) Precise descriptions and comparable documentation of heathland management from the 4 different parts of Europe 2) Compare the data form the four areas in a systematic manner in order to develop an improved strategies for holistic and sustainable safeguarding of heathlands 3) Present the outcome of the comparative analysis in a conclusive report/booklet and an Internet program, together with recommendations and guidelines.
The aim is to focus on landscape development, management systems, and use and conservation of biodiversity, natural resources and cultural heritage, regional development and local economies.; to formulate recommendations with transfer value to other areas; to improve the methods of cultural landscape conservation and to increase the awareness of sustainable management of the remaining heathlands in Europe.
