Theatre Festival for Children and Young People in St. Petersburg
A theatre festival for children and young people. Participants will be professional theatre companies from Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia. Twelve productions are planned: 5 Nordic, 3 Baltic and 4 Russian. The performances will take place in schools in St Petersburg, with each theatre company adopting a school and performing 2-3 times to children from that school and neighbouring ones. Workshops will be run with teachers and children from the schools. Some productions will also play at theatre venues in St. Petersburg and workshops and seminars for professionals will be held. Finally, a conference will be held.
The aim is to 'showcase' Nordic and Baltic culture; to involve children in creative theatre through workshops; to arrange the space for festival members to share children's ideas on theatre and be inspired by new ideas, methods, ways of making theatre for children; to develop the idea of common respect for the different cultural models, values & experiences; to establish contacts and perspectives of co-operation in the area of children and young people's theatre.
